Grassy Garden
This was an extremely long and narrow garden that had barely been touched for years and was in desperate need of an overhaul. The client decided to keep the large lawn space as a big play area for her children so we concentrated on making the new planting in the enlarged borders look amazing and create new seating areas with complimentary planting.

The borders were enlarged to give more impact to the planting, and a previously unused raised bed was converted into bench seating with planting pockets of herbs and scented shrubs to brush up against. Another new seating area was created at the bottom of the garden to take advantage of the new views and was planted with dwarf-scented magnolias to make the seating area a sensory delight.

A grassy, wispy Mediterranean inspired planting scheme was chosen with staggered olive trees and extensive use of fine leaf grasses form the backbone of the look. Foliage was chosen to be fine & feathery and flowers to be delicate clusters and nothing too blowsy. Colour scheme for the planting involved lots of silver foliage, and violets, clean whites and a splash of zesty lime & deepest chocolate to contrast highlighted variegated cream leaves.

Final planting scheme included:

Olea europea
Salix exigua
Buddleja morning light
Miscanthus morning light
Pennisetum alopecuroides Hameln
